An integrated urban homestead eco-system valuing conservation, biodiversity, permaculture, sustainability, creativity, and novelty.

What once was a farm focused on biointensive production of heirloom vegetables has moved into town, become a "hobby farm" as I became a practicing licensed midwife and certified herbalist, and diversified as my son picked up new interests (fish keeping/raising/breeding) which we have incorporated into our model of sustainable living.

We raise a variety of useful and some rare plants. We mostly focus on medicinal herbs, but also culinary and ornamental plants.
The most recent addition to our model was the integration of rainwater capture and utilization adding PNW bred and raised freshwater aquarium fish to our model. Fishkeeping can be excellent for screentime detoxing and overall benefit to mental health. Most varieties of aquarium fish come from delicate habitats that are in jeopardy or are being destroyed. The intention is 3 fold- 1)Protect the wild populations by captive breeding and selling in our bioregion. 2) Reduce the stress on the fish by providing a healthy and appropriate habitat 3) Become skilled enough fish breeders that we can be entrusted with some of the rarest endangered fish whose habitat has been destroyed, and only avoid extinction through careful aquarium hobbiests/fishkeepers.
